Srushti (pronounced ‘srooshtea’) is the founder of Algae, an art, technology and media media company. At Algae, she's building a new ecosystem for financing, developing and distributing creative experiments with technology. Algae was incubated at NEW INC Y11, the New Museum of Contemporary Art's incubator and launched at DEMO 2025.

She also serves as co-director for MIT WORLDING, a research and development initiative founded at the MIT Co-Creation Studio and Open Documentary Lab in 2021 which bridges climate storytelling in virtual/3D environments with community wisdom and land-based placemaking. WORLDING has partnered with and been supported by Unity Technologies, Agog, Indigenous Screen Office, MIT Media Lab, Gordon Research Conferences, Ford Foundation and several others.  

She earned a Masters of Science [S.M.] from Massachusetts Institute of Technology in 2023 where her thesis on virtual production explored how game engine technology shifts traditional film and television industries. She also co-led civic media and metaverse reading groups in the Boston/Cambridge area and received the MISTI + PKG grants for graduates working on new ventures.

Born in Mumbai and raised in Singapore, she went on to earn a B.A. with honors in Journalism and History from the University of Oregon, where was on scholarship through the ICSP program. She was a 2018 fellow at the Oxford Consortium for Human Rights.
